Minecraft Village Finder

Minecraft Structure Tools · By the ChunkScan Team · Updated September 2026

Quick answer: To find a village, enter your world seed on this page and choose Java or Bedrock: the map marks every village around spawn or any coordinates you pan to. Villages generate in plains, desert, savanna, taiga and snowy plains. Link straight to a result with /village-finder?seed=YOUR_SEED.

Villages give you beds, food, trades and iron golems, which makes the nearest one the most useful landmark in a new world. This finder maps them for any seed, entirely in your browser, so your seed is never sent to a server. Pan the map to your base to see which villages are in reach, and zoom out to compare directions before you set off. Positions differ between Java and Bedrock for the same seed, so pick your edition first.

Why find a village?

Villages are the best early-game shortcut in Minecraft: beds to set your spawn, farms and chests for food and tools, and villagers to trade with. A librarian can sell mending, a toolsmith diamond gear, and a cluster of villagers with beds and workstations spawns iron golems for an iron farm. Knowing where the nearest village is turns the first night from a scramble into a plan.

Where villages generate

Villages generate on the surface in plains, desert, savanna, taiga and snowy plains biomes, and each biome has its own building style. Bedrock Edition also places them in snowy taiga and sunflower plains. The map marks the village centre, which is where the bell and meeting point sit, so the houses spread out a little around the marker.

Finding several villages at once

Villages are placed on a coarse grid with random offsets, so they are common but unevenly spread: some seeds put three within a few hundred blocks, others leave long gaps. Zoom out on the map to compare directions before you travel, and look for two villages close together if you want to move villagers between them for a trading hall.

Java and Bedrock

Both editions generate villages, but the same seed places them at different coordinates on Java and Bedrock, so choose your edition above before reading positions off the map. Zombie villages, which spawn without doors or torches, exist in both editions and are not distinguished on the map.
