What is inside a witch hut?
A witch hut has no chest. Inside stand a crafting table, a cauldron and a flower pot with a red mushroom, and a witch and a black cat spawn with the hut. Tame the cat with raw cod or raw salmon to take it home. The real prize is the hut itself: witches keep spawning in the space around it long after the first one is gone, which makes the hut the heart of a witch farm.
Where do witch huts spawn?
On Java, witch huts only generate in the swamp biome; mangrove swamps don’t get them. The world is split into regions of 32 by 32 chunks, and each region gets one possible hut spot in its first 24 by 24 chunks. The spot becomes a hut only when the biome there is a swamp, so huts are rare: a seed with a swamp near spawn may have one or two within 1,000 blocks, while many seeds have none that close. Two huts in neighbouring regions can stand close together, a prized spot for a double witch farm.
How do I build a witch farm at a witch hut?
Witches spawn only inside the hut’s structure area, a box around the cabin, not in the open swamp. A witch farm fills that box with spawning floors, keeps other mobs from spawning around it and drops the witches into a kill chamber. It yields redstone, glowstone dust, sugar, gunpowder, spider eyes, glass bottles and sticks, all useful for brewing. The box edges matter to the block, so follow a farm design for your version. The marker shows the hut’s chunk; the cabin stands in it or right next to it.
Does the witch hut finder work for Bedrock?
This finder is made for Java Edition. Witch huts generate in both editions, but Bedrock uses its own placement, so the same seed puts its huts in other places. Our Java huts matched an independent reference on all 63 huts across 420 test seeds. The Bedrock side of this finder is not checked yet, so on Bedrock use the coordinates only as a hint and confirm them in game.
