Minecraft Chunk Finder — Slime Chunks for Java & Bedrock
Slimes only spawn below Y=40 inside particular chunks, and roughly one chunk in ten qualifies. Our chunk finder maps them for any seed, entirely in your browser — your seed is never sent to a server. What is a slime chunk?
Slimes spawn naturally below Y=40 only inside specific chunks, called slime chunks. Roughly one chunk in ten qualifies. Because slimes drop slimeballs — needed for sticky pistons, leads and magma cream — finding a slime chunk near your base is usually the fastest route to an automated slimeball supply. A chunk is a 16x16 block column, so block 0 to 15 is chunk 0, and block -1 is chunk -1.
Java and Bedrock slime chunks work differently
In Java Edition, slime chunks depend on your world seed. Two worlds with different seeds have slime chunks in completely different places, which is why the tool asks for your seed. In Bedrock Edition, slime chunks are seed-independent: the same chunk coordinates are slime chunks in every Bedrock world ever created. That means a Bedrock player does not need to know their seed at all — the Bedrock map applies to every world. This is the single most common misconception about chunk finders, and it is why a Java slime chunk map will give a Bedrock player the wrong answer.
How to find your chunk coordinates in game
Press F3 on Java Edition and read the Chunk line, which shows your current chunk coordinates directly. On Bedrock, enable Show Coordinates in the world settings, then divide your block coordinates by 16 and round down. Rounding down matters for negative coordinates: block -1 is in chunk -1, not chunk 0, which is the most common off-by-one when people convert by hand.
Building a slime farm
A slime farm needs a flat area below Y=40 inside a slime chunk, with the surrounding space spawn-proofed so mobs concentrate where you want them. Clusters of adjacent slime chunks are far more productive than a single isolated chunk, because a larger contiguous spawning floor means more slimes per cycle. The tool highlights the largest cluster currently on screen so you can pick the best spot without counting by hand.
