Minecraft Slime Chunk Checker
By the ChunkScan Team · Updated October 2026
Quick answer: To check a slime chunk, type your Java seed and the block X and Z from F3; the page says yes or no and shows the nearest slime chunk. Bedrock needs no seed. Example: on seed 1, block -40, -33 is in slime chunk -3, -3. Link a check with /slime-chunk-checker?seed=YOUR_SEED&x=-40&z=-33.
Type your seed and a block position, and this checker says whether that chunk is a slime chunk, with the chunk's block range, the nearest slime chunk if it isn't one and a small map of the chunks around it. On Bedrock, slime chunks are the same in every world, so no seed is needed.
What is a slime chunk?
Minecraft splits every world into chunks of 16 by 16 blocks. About one chunk in ten is a slime chunk. Below Y 40, slimes can spawn there in any light level and any biome, which makes these chunks the place to build a slime farm for slimeballs. Outside slime chunks, slimes only spawn on the surface of swamps at night.
How does this checker work?
On Java Edition, the game decides with the world seed and the chunk coordinates: it mixes them into a random number generator and checks whether the first draw out of ten is zero. This page runs the same maths in your browser, so the answer is instant and exact, for number seeds and for text seeds alike. On Bedrock Edition, slime chunks do not depend on the seed at all: the same chunks are slime chunks in every world, so you only need your coordinates.
How to use it
Pick your edition and, on Java, type the seed (type /seed in chat to read it). Then type your X and Z position from the F3 screen, or press F3 + C and paste the copied line into either box. The page shows whether the chunk you stand in is a slime chunk, the block range of that chunk, the nearest slime chunk if it isn’t one, and a small map of the chunks around it. Use “Link to this check” to send the result to a friend.
Why don’t I see slimes in my slime chunk?
Slimes need room to spawn: a dark-enough, open space below Y 40 with a solid block underneath. Peaceful mode stops all slime spawns, and you must stand between 24 and 128 blocks away on Java. Clear out a large room in the chunk, light up the caves around it so other mobs don’t take the spawn cap, and wait.
