ChunkScan is a free Minecraft seed lookup tool. When we say "we" or "us" in this policy, we mean the data controller listed above.
What data we collect
ChunkScan does not require accounts and we do not store personal profile data on our servers. You can search seeds, open maps, and use the site without creating a user account.
Server access data: When you visit the site, our web server and hosting infrastructure may process standard access log data such as IP address, request time, requested URL, HTTP status code, referrer, and user agent. We use this for security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and operating the service. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our server is hosted at Strato AG, Pascalstraße 10, 10587 Berlin, Germany. Strato processes access data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR).
Consent and Google services: Google Consent Mode is set to
"denied" by default for advertising storage, ad user data, ad personalization,
and analytics storage. We use Google's Funding Choices consent management
platform to collect and store your consent choice. Funding Choices may store
consent-state cookies such as FCCDCF or FCNEC so your
choice can be remembered and signalled to Google.
If you accept advertising or analytics cookies, we use Google AdSense to display ads and Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use ChunkScan. Google may set cookies or use similar technologies for these purposes. This may include:
- Cookies for ad personalization and frequency capping (AdSense)
- Anonymous identifiers for cross-site ad measurement (AdSense)
- Analytics cookies to measure page views, sessions, and engagement (Google Analytics)
- Your IP address (processed by Google, anonymized in Analytics)
We do not have access to the personal data Google collects through these cookies. Google processes this data as an independent data controller under their own Privacy Policy.
Some technical requests to Google may occur to load Google's consent and tag infrastructure. These requests are handled by Google under its own privacy terms. Advertising and analytics storage remains denied unless you consent.
Legal basis
The legal basis for advertising and analytics cookies, local storage access that is not technically necessary, and related Google processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25 TDDDG). You may withdraw consent at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal.
Data retention
We do not store personal profile data on our servers. Google's advertising, analytics, and consent cookies have varying lifetimes. You can reopen the consent dialog through the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer and change or withdraw your choice. Your browser may also store local-only app preferences, such as liked seeds, until you clear browser data.
Geographic scope of consent
The consent requirement applies to visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Visitors outside these regions may not see a consent prompt; in that case, Google services operate under Google's own terms for the visitor's jurisdiction.
If you reject cookies
Google Consent Mode remains denied for advertising and analytics storage. Personalized ads and analytics cookies are not enabled by ChunkScan. The site search and map features remain available.
Local storage
We use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember:
- Liked seeds (stored only on your device)
- Your light/dark theme preference
This data never leaves your browser and is not sent to any server.
Your rights (GDPR)
Under EU law, you have the right to:
- Withdraw consent at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer
- Access your personal data
- Rectification of inaccurate personal data
- Erasure of personal data where legally required
- Restriction of processing where legally required
- Data portability where applicable
- Object to processing — reject cookies and no processing occurs
- Complain to a supervisory authority — our competent authority is Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen

Google may process data in countries outside the European Economic Area, including the United States. Google states that it relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.
Web fonts (Monocraft and Silkscreen, OFL licensed) are self-hosted on our servers — no external font CDN requests are made.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and re-prompt for cookie consent if the changes affect how we use cookies.
