Lush caves are worth reaching early because they answer several progression needs at once. Moss blocks give you a fast source of bonemeal-driven decoration and a bounce-free surface for building. Glow berries light caves without torches and feed foxes. Clay pools give sand-free clay for bricks, and the underground water is where axolotls spawn, useful as combat allies against drowned and guardians.
