Cave Seeds

Lush Cave Seeds With Caves Right Below Spawn

Lush caves are one of the harder biomes to stumble into by accident. They only generate underground below azalea trees, so unless the surface happens to sprout an azalea, you can dig for hours and never find the moss, glow berries, and axolotl pools. These seeds fix that by putting lush caves within reach of spawn. Two of them start you inside the biome itself. From our scan of over 1.7 million seeds, only 20 match this filter, so the ten shown below are close to the best available. Every one pairs the caves with useful nearby structures like trial chambers, ruined portals, and in one case an ancient city.

What makes a lush cave worth the trip

Lush caves are worth reaching early because they answer several progression needs at once. Moss blocks give you a fast source of bonemeal-driven decoration and a bounce-free surface for building. Glow berries light caves without torches and feed foxes. Clay pools give sand-free clay for bricks, and the underground water is where axolotls spawn, useful as combat allies against drowned and guardians. Spore blossoms and dripleaf are the only reliable sources of those items in survival. Because the biome sits underground, it also opens direct cave access for mining right where you land.

The azalea tree tell

Every lush cave has an azalea tree growing on the surface directly above it. The tree is a short trunk topped with green azalea leaves, sometimes flowering azalea with pink blossoms. If you see one near spawn, dig straight down beside it (never through the block you stand on) and you will hit the biome within a couple dozen blocks. Azalea bushes, the small ground plants, are the same signal at a smaller scale. On seeds where spawn is already inside the caves, you skip the search entirely and start in the moss.

How our scanner verifies the biome

ChunkScan runs the same world-generation code Minecraft uses, then samples biomes on a grid around each spawn point rather than trusting the surface biome name. That matters here because lush caves are a cave biome layered under a normal surface biome, so a seed can read as dark forest or bamboo jungle up top while carrying lush caves below. The scanner records the underground biome directly, which is why this list mixes surface biomes like old growth birch forest and windswept forest with two seeds whose spawn point lands in the caves themselves.

Seed -9222130929792154756: lush caves plus an ancient city

This is the standout. Spawn lands in the lush caves biome, and an ancient city sits just 124 blocks away at roughly x80, z96. That pairing lets you tour the moss and glow berries, then walk to the deep dark for Swift Sneak books and the disc fragments, all before your first night if you move carefully. A ruined portal at 222 blocks gives an early Nether route, and trial chambers sit at 252 and 436 blocks for copper and trial keys. Bring wool to muffle the sculk sensors near the city.

Seed -9222171354482674913: caves and copper close together

The second lush caves spawn on this list puts trial chambers only 124 blocks out at x-416, z-208, so you get the biome and a 1.21 combat dungeon within a short walk. A buried treasure marker sits at 393 blocks, worth a map hunt, and two shipwrecks plus an ocean ruin point to open water not far northwest. Start in the moss for glow berries and clay, clear the trial chamber for copper and pottery sherds, then follow the coast for the treasure. It is a compact loop of three reward types.

Surface seeds with caves underneath

Most seeds on this list, like -9223251885608871266 in old growth birch forest and -9222577559509679434 in windswept forest, put you on the surface with lush caves waiting below. These are the ones where the azalea tell matters most. The upside is you get a normal above-ground base site plus the cave rewards. -9223251885608871266 also stacks a trial chamber at 97 blocks and a shipwreck at 124, while -9222289846156837846 has a trial chamber just 96 blocks from spawn. Scan the treetops for azalea leaves before you dig.

Practical tips for the first session

Carry a water bucket down; the caves have flooded sections and you will want it for the descent and for scooping axolotls. Bring a few torches even though glow berries help, because the biome is dark between the glowing vines. Shears collect the vines and moss carpet cleanly. If a seed also has trial chambers nearby, save copper and go in with a shield, since the spawners scale with players. On ancient city seeds, never break a sculk shrieker without a plan; three activations summon the Warden.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which seeds spawn you directly in lush caves?
Two on this list: -9222130929792154756 and -9222171354482674913. Both start your spawn point inside the lush caves biome, so you land in the moss instead of hunting for an azalea tree first.
How do I find lush caves if spawn is on the surface?
Look for azalea trees, short trunks with green or pink-flowering leaves. Each one grows directly above a lush cave. Dig down beside the tree, never straight through your own block, to reach the biome.
Do these seeds work on Bedrock Edition?
All ten listed here are Java Edition seeds. Biome generation matches between editions after 1.18, but structure positions differ, so the trial chamber and ancient city coordinates apply to Java only.
